Tonight for dinner we did a braided taco. My bf, who was my old roommate use to make me this all the time for me. Well I was craving this and since she wasn't going to make it for me, I did it myself.
Ingredients-
- 4 oz of softened cream cheese
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1/2 lb cooked hamburger w/ taco seasoning
- 1 can black beans (drained)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced olives
- Pizza dough/crust
- Chopped cilantro
- Olive oil
- Garlic salt
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees - Spread out dough on to a greased cookie sheet - Roll dough to fit tightly into the tray - Place on a greased cookie sheet - Mix cream cheese & salsa - Spread the cheese mixture lengthwise down the center of the dough - Add the following ingredients: seasoned meat, beans, olives, cheese and cilantro - Then pulling at the dough, cut into 1inch strips, its ok if it now hangs over the cookie sheet - To start the braid fold alternating strips at an angle across the mixture - Fold the ends & tuck under - Brush with olive oil & then sprinkle with garlic salt - Bake for 20 minutes.
Let cool for a couple of minutes and then top it off with some sour cream and avocado slices. This serves 4.
*NOTE- My BF uses a round ceramic pizza baking stone, its much easier to assemble, but a cookie sheet works just fine.
