My red project has finally dried and been placed in it's final spot. Any guesses on what it is?

It's still just a sneak peek but soon I'll post the completed room.

Finally my fave shows are returning!

We don't watch a lot of TV, but when we do it seems like its all fall shows.  (and they sit on our DVR untill we can finally sit down & watch them)

I'm reallllly excited for the top four on the list. They are my favorites shows on television. (besides Game of Thrones)

Boardwalk Empire
The Walking Dead
Sons of Anarchy
American Horror
Once upon a time
Parenthood
SVU- Kinda getting over this show
Dexter- Totally jumped the shark last season. I'll give it an episode or two before I decide if I'll still watch it.
Glee-  May or may not watch. I'm kinda over this one as well.
30 Rock
New girl
Up all night
Modern Family
Parks and Rec
Office- More then likely won't watch. Last season sucked. I'm glad this will be its last. I did hear Steve may come back.

Intrigued by a couple of new shows:
Elementary
Nashville
The Mindy Project

What's you favorite shows? Do agree with my list?

Sorry for slacking!

We have been extremely busy at our house with projects and therefore I’ve been slacking with my blog.

Our home is a rambler and as of right now we just live in the upstairs half. The basement is for laundry and storage.

A couple of weeks ago, the Wee P asked when we would be finishing downstairs because he wanted to move downstairs. Currently he’s upstairs in what will be the guest room and even though it’s a rather huge room, his room downstairs is another master bedroom and he’ll have tons more room….to make a mess in.

So we decided even though we wouldn’t be completely finishing the whole basement we would at least start work on his room. Here are some things you should know about the basement. It is fully finished. When we moved in 3 years ago we removed all the carpet from down there. Envision 2 inch orange shag carpeting. Lovely, right? Now picture dark wood paneling all along the walls, are you getting the idea why we don’t use this space?

The wee one picked his room color and it’s quite lovely. It’s a true blue. He also picked his carpet. Because we went thru Home Depot we decided to carpet his room, laundry room and the downstairs sitting area as well. We held off on doing the soon to be theatre room. That will still be used as our storage room, until we finish building and adding shelves in what is actually the storage room.

After I painted his bedroom, I decided to redo my laundry/mud room. I wanted a retro look so I picked a light teal paint color. I will soon be adding some bold color down there, but you’ll have to wait for another blog posting to see what that is. J

I decided to keep the one piece of wood panel in this area because again I wanted a retro feel. I primed it and paint all the walls but one. I did a semi-white gloss on that. I will soon be adding wood flooring to the section of area where the washer and dryer go.

While I was still in the middle of painting the laundry room, I decided I wanted to work on the wee ones bathroom. Right now it has an old 80’s sink and toilet. We pulled that out and the flooring. We bought a lovely redwood flooring and I’m excited to lie that down. At this point we kept the paneling up because this will be pulled down and replaced when we do the whole basement, (other than the bedroom & laundry room).

I'll keep you updated with some more pictures soon.

We picked the color "Spa"

Kitty Korner

We built this privacy/lounge box about 6 months ago. It hides two litter boxes, a box of litter, a scooper and has a compartment for bags, so you always have one on hand and can quickly clean out the kitties business.

I’m thankful for my hubby because he helps me build my ideas. I would’ve done a lot of this stuff by myself, but he says it’s best I don’t mess with the power tools. If you know me personally, I’m sure you can agree with him.

So how our teamwork works is by me telling him of my idea/vision, he looks at my crayon blue print and then turns it into a reality. I do all the decorating myself.

Tonight we added two shelves. We got an Ekby Jarpen shelve and brackets from Ikea. They have lots of sizes to choose from. We picked this style because it would hold our cats and I felt these brackets would be the most supportive.

I used left over fabric from the lounge box. Because the brackets cover the ends, I trimmed the fleece shorter, so it wouldn’t be where I needed to slide the end on. I then wrapped the fabric around and secured it with staples. Pop on the end brackets and trim up any areas that may need it.

**FOLLOW-UP** I had some readers ask about the actual privacy box. The materials I used were:
Plywood
2x2
Wall brackets (2)
Nails
Fabric & fleece
Foam

It's actually rather simple. Measure out the area where you want to do this. Cut the wood at home or know the measurements ahead of time and Home Depot can do it for you.

I attached the brackets to the wall. I took the 2 pieces of wood and nailed them together, so it looks like and "L". I didn't attach it to the wall. It just makes it easier to lift and remove when I mop.

To attach the fabric I used a staple gun. For the curtains I used a small dowel and two eye hooks. If you are interested in making one, send me a message. I can put more thought process into how I made this and give you better directions.

I taped the fleece down so it wouldn't move when I was wrapping the fabric around

Cleaning out my closet

I was going thru my closet the other day and forgot I bought these adorable baby girl clothes. I bought them for a friend who had her baby in July.

I finally realized this was and would always be a one side friendship and after making numerous attempts to hangout with her I just finally gave up. Sadly it was passed the 90 days to return these, but luckily for me one of my friends wants to buy them and even though I’m taking a loss, at least I get some moola back for them and they won’t go to waste.

As I was typing this up, I remembered I bought her baby girl some alpaca booties when I was in Colorado. I decided I’m keeping those. They are so soft and super cute. Maybe I can get my cat to wear them. J

Chicken burgers

If you love chicken burgers, give this recipe a try. The ricotta cheese gives this burger a smooth & delicious taste.

Things you'll need:

1 pound ground chicken
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1 3/4 t Dijon mustard
1 3/4 t Worcestershire sauce
1/4 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1 T vegetable oil

Alright, let’s get our hands dirty.

In a large bowl, combine chicken, cheese, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, salt & peper - Stir (or use hands) until well combined - Form into four equal size patties & flatten - Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat - Cook the chicken about 5 minutes per side - Partially cover the chicken & reduce to low medium heat & cook for 5 more minutes.

Top burgers with whatever toppings you like. I grilled some onions for mine. The hubby put smoked gouda on his & that was yummy as well. Next time I'm doing swiss, mushrooms & some grilled onions.

An easy side is some mint cut up on fresh watermelon.

Hope you enjoy!

Make shift panini maker

We made my roast beef sandwich the other night and I was wishing I had a panini maker, but didn't want to spend $40 for something I would use once or twice and then forget I have.

Then an idea popped into my head. I would use my George Foreman grill. Guess what, it worked out just fine.  Toasted the bread and warmed the sandwich.
