Stila lipstick

A Birch Box sample was a deluxe mini of the Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick in Beso. The reviews were fabulous and this fall/winter season red is the color to wear.

Well I tried it and it was instant love. I'm always on the look out for a perfect red pout and I think this may be it.  I tried the sample on, went out for drinks and dinner and the lipstick was still on when I looked in the mirror at the restaurant.

When I finally got a home a few hours later the red was still going strong. It looked like I just applied it.

I picked up the full version at my local Sephora because I need instant gratification.

Now if you are worried it won't come off, because (seriously it does have amazing staying power) 2 quick swipes of my facial wipes and it's off.

I did try to get a pic of me wearing it and it was a windy day. So that's the picture you get to see.

White chocolate popcorn

This is so easy and simply delicious!

Takes about 5 minutes to do and easy enough for the kids to make.

Stuff you need:
-White chocolate chips (3/4 cup)
-Package of microwave popcorn (or fresh air pop)
-Brown paper bag

Follow the instructions on the popcorn and once popped immediately add it into the brown paper bag. Add in your chocolate chips, fold the bag over and shake it up.

Serve it up or store leftovers in a plastic baggie.

NOTE- If you like lots of chocolate use 1 cup chips.  I like to get a good mixture of salt/butter and chocolate in every bite so I usually stick with the 3/4 cup.

October Birchbox

Here's the goodies from this months Birchbox. So far I've liked all the products, the stain and chapstick are by far my favorite and I do enjoy the mircodermabrassion. The smell is delightful.

Halloween decorations around our house

My families favorite holiday is HALLOWEEN!!!!  I look forward to it every year. I'm very good at containing my excitement and decorate on October 1st. No sooner, no later.

Enjoy my photos of our decorations. A lot of it is DIY or custom items my amazing friend Foxy-B made for me. The two ceramic witches were painted by my mom. I have to have these out every year. <3

Questions on how I did something send me a message. I'll gladly give you some instructions.

(I'm still loving my DIY chalk fridge.)

Halloween Books

I wanted to have a witches area in my entry way this year and while I was searching for decorations I saw ceramic books that said "Spells. Hexes or Curses" but they looked horrible and they were about $15, $20 dollars.

So course I made my own. For book sales look at your local library or church thrift store. I got all of these for 25 cents each.

Things you'll need:
-Books in various sizes
-Glue
-Paint (gold metallic looks awesome)
-Paint stain
-Sponge brush
-Brushes
-Hot glue

This is an easy and fun project to do. Start by hot gluing the front and back covers together. Then using a paint brush glue your pages together.

If you have a stain mix it in with the glue and paint on the pages. You can see in picture #6 the effect the glue does on the pages. Pretty cool, right?

If you can't find the right color of books all you need to do is paint them the color you want. This will usually take 2-3 coats.

I decided to burn of the pages for a cool effect. You can do this before or after gluing the book, but the glue doesn't burn as well.  If you do it after when you're gluing the pages it can make a mess because the pages flake.  I did it it both ways, because I liked both effects.

The fun part for me and the hubs was coming up with book titles. I think we came up with some good one.

Enjoy and have fun with this project.

You'll see the final project and how I set-up up my display in another post.

Halloween Photos

I bought these changing Halloween pictures from the Dollar Store and got clearance frames from Michael's. You could also get the frames from the Dollar Store but I wanted some character in mine. Both frames totaled 5 bucks. SCORE!

You can easily peel the pictures from the frames that they came with. Place into the new frames and TADA, creepy new pictures with nice looking frames.

This is where you can get creative and make these your own. You could always spray paint the frames, but I was happy with the colors they were and it gave the images an antique look and feel. I added blood to the glass on one of my images, but you could sand up the frames to make them look older add some cobwebs. Just let your imagination run wild.
