5 down, several more to go

While we were sick our anniversary snuck up on us.

It's the big 5 year and per tradition the gift is wood. I actually did look in June and July for a gift, but then completely spaced it. Soon it was vacay time and then our illness. So sadly no gifts were exchanged and both of us were ok with that. :)

We did have two bottles of wine. I told the hubs it was a bottle per year, but he wasn't believing that lie.

WOWZERS!!

I started this blog in late February and have had almost 2500 readers. THANKS everyone for checking out my blog. I hope you enjoy my randomness and recipes.

With fall coming up there will be a lot more cooking recipes. I have some yummy recipes I can't wait to share.

Baking time!

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I need to start baking again. Tress got me the cutest apron for my birthday and I'm dying to bake in it. Ialso think I'll wear my tiara. Cute, right?!

Here's what's floating around in my head for cupcakes:

-Orange cream. I picked up an orange whip cream vodka and think this wouldmake a fantastic orange creamsicle cupcake.

-A porter or stout chocolate base cupcake with a Bailey’s truffle mousse anda ganache Baileys or Kahlua butter creamfrosting.

-Sangria cupcake. Wine is a tricky liquid to bake with. I almost have it perfected and then I’ll share.

-Almond Joy cupcake. A coconut base, with an almond custardin the middle, chocolate butter cream or cream cheese frosting.

Thinking too much liquor? I may have a drinking problem? Allmy friends are drunks? Well the answers would be: Yes, yes and yes.

I will now start adding in the ‘Note’ section of each recipeon how to make it minus the booze. Although, don’t worry if it’s in the actualcupcake. You’ll be baking it out.

As always, follow the recipe step by step and you’ll befine. If you have questions send me a message and I’ll gladly respond. Any suggestions, send those as well.

After vacation illness

If you recall we were in San Diego from the 4th to the 10th. The Wee P was starting to show signs of a cold early Friday morning, but didn't really think too much about it.

When we got home we had rested at home for about half a day and then on Saturday packed and went on our camping trip with Tress. Well when we came home Sunday and finally really just got to sit and relax I think that's when the cold finally caught up with us.

I'm not sure if it was a cold/flu/plague or the black lung, but it was horrible. We slept most days and the time that we weren't sleeping we got to catch up on Mad Men. (Side note- I like the series, but can't say there's one single character on the show I like.)

With matching fevers of 103, hot flashes and the chills, along with other flu like symptoms.....it was not a fun week at home.

We are finally starting to feel better and after 2 weeks off we returned to work. YAY?

MY BIRTHDAY!!!

I love my birthday....that's no secret.  I actually like to celebrate ALL birthdays. I think as we get older we are okay with them coming and going without any celebration. I don't want to be like that. I like to celebrate my friends birthdays and decorate their desks, cars, home or even throw a surprise party.

YAY for birthdays and YAY for presents and more importantly YAY for my best friend and hubby (whom is one in the same) who spoils me everyday.

Thanks to the Wee P for his sweet present he won me & for wanting to stay up past midnight to be the first to wish me happy birthday. Thanks to Tress for throwing me a surprise luau. Best camping trip ever!! I'm truly grateful to have you both in my life.

Restaurants

Delicious food and random pictures taken at dinner.

When you're on vacation I strongly recommended the app Urban Spoon to find local restaurants with high ratings. Some might be dives, but there the best!

Birthday luau camping trip

We got home on Friday from our road trip, had a nice night home with our kitties (who missed us) and then on Saturday morning we started packing for our camping trip.

We were going with our fave couple, Tress. To my surprise they had decorated the area with luau items and I even got a pretty lei.

Girl hippie made a blue lagoon drink, chicken haystacks for dinner and brought up a yummy red velvet cake.

With good food, good drinks and being with awesome people, whom you love and adore...... It was just the perfect thing in the world and a wonderful birthday.

It was a bright, sunny day.

Via Las Vegas

We finished up our trip with an over night stay in Las Vegas. We took the wee one to Circus Circus and we spent 5 hours in the adventuredome.

5 LOOOOOONG hours in the adventuredome! So Vegas isn't Vegas when you have kids with you. :(

Oh well, we still had fun! We played lots of games in the midway and we all won lots of different stuffed animals.

 

The hubs won Miss Chatterbox for me and I won him Mr Strong.
